Tamilnadu Badminton Super League (TNBSL -2019)

Chennai, April 2019: The much-awaited Tamilnadu Badminton Super League (TNBSL-2019) organized by Tamilnadu Badminton Association which is scheduled to be played in Chennai from 3rd June 2019 to 9th June 2019 at the FIREBALL BADMINTON ACADEMY, MUGGAPAIR.

Tamil Nadu’s top badminton players will showcase their skills and talent while representing their respective franchise-based teams during the six-day event. This is the First edition of the TNBSL and the matches will certainly be very competitive and exciting.

The auction proceedings for TNBSL -2019 were inaugurated by Mr. Anbumani RamadossPresident of Tamilnadu Badminton Association along with Actor Bharath  Brand Ambassadorof TNBSL 2019, Indian’s first female racer Alisha Abdullah and Drums Sivamani.

A total of 8 teams will be participating in the TNBSL-2019 and the team formation and selection of players was done by a ‘Players Auction’ which was conducted in the presence of the technical committee and the organizing committee of TNBA. 88 players, divided into 5 categories (i.e Men Singles, Mixed doubles, Men’s doubles, Junior Mixed Doubles, Juniors boys singles) went under the hammer at the auction. The best among the 88 players were picked by the owners of the 8 franchises that will feature in the Tamilnadu Badminton Super League – 2019.

Sankar Muthusamy (Tiruppur Warriors), K. Sathish Kumar (Karur Smashers), Sidhanth Gupta (Chennai Flying Gravity), Rithvik Sanjeevi  (Thiruvallur Titan) emerged the highest paid players, going for Rs. 2,00,000.

The teams that will be battling this season would be Chennai Flying Gravity, Tiruvallur Titans, Trichy Blasters, Marina Super Kings, Tirupur Warriors, Karur Smashers, Kovai Knockers and Kanchispark Aces.

The 8 teams will be divided into 2 groups of 4 each. Each team will play all other teams in their respective group once and the top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the Semi-Finals and the winners will play the Finals.
