Covelong Point Surf, Music & Yoga Festival 2017 is all set for an exciting fifth edition as Arun Vasu, CMD, TT Group; Murthy Megavan, Founder-Covelong Point Social Surf Schooland Yotam Agam – Festival Director and co-founder EarthSync set the stage for the fifth edition here in Chennai. The other dignitaries present at the launch were Rammohan Paranjape, Vice President, Surfing Association of India, and India’s No.1 male and Female Stand- Up Paddlers- Sekar Petchai and Tanvi Jagdish.
The festival will be held from August 25th- 27th 2017 at Covelong Point, Chennai. The championship which is expected to have more than 140 national and international participants, is presented by Chennai based TT Group. The championship is also recognised by Surfing Federation of India, national governing body for surfing.
The surfing festival which is going to be one of the crowd pullers will play host to some of the top surfers from Karnataka, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Orissa & Kerala alongside some of the top surfers from Sri lanka, Australia, France & USA.
Besides Sekar Pitchai, Dharani Selvakumar and Ajeesh Ali will also be the flag bearers for Tamil Nadu in the seniors and Groms U16 category. Kovalam’s Ramesh Roy would look forward to continue with his winning ways in the junior’s category post his win at the recently concluded Indian Open of Surfing 2017 at Mangalore, Karnataka. The women’s category is expected to witness a tight contest between Auroville’s Suhasini Damian and Mangalorean- Sinchana Gowda, Aneesha Nayak.

Sekar Petchai and Tanvi Jagdish, India’s No. 1 Stand- Up Paddler’s who looked all set to make a lasting impact on the festival said, “This festival has always given an opportunity to the surfers to excel In the sport. Over the years the level of competition has grown immensely and we are really looking forward for a tough competition this year”.
The annual event which has attracted thousands of attendees every year from across India and around the globe, with last year’s footfall being approximately 15000 people will have a host of events besides a national and international level surf competition.The festival also features a global music lineup spread across three stages, yoga and meditation classes and alternative healing workshops. The festival’s music line-up includes artists like Raghu Dixit, Divine, Skrat,Bemet, and Karthick Iyer, and will also showcase a selection of alternative bands from around the country and renowned Carnatic Classical artists like Padma Shankar and Mahesh Vinayakram.The Chief Guest will be Dr. C SylendraBabu – the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) of the Prisons.
