SIMS hospital in association with Atijeevan foundation organized a free plastic surgery camp. The aim of the camp is to provide new hope of life to burn victims and survivors of acid attacks. The team of Doctors was led by, Dr.Sridhar K, Sr.vice President. & Director ICAPS, SIMS Hospital. The team screened and selected the patients for free surgical procedures.
Speaking on the camp and SIMS Hospitals contribution, Mr.Ravi pachamoothoo, Chairman, SRM Group said “Overcoming an acid attack is an extremely long and painful process, and some survivors lose the hope to carry on, especially when they don’t get much-needed support from their family. This kind of camp for selecting the victims for free surgical procedures will contribute in a very big way and will make the victims life more meaningful and productive. SIMS Hospital will continue to support such services to the society.”
More than 70 patients were screened and 15 patients were selected for the first phase of surgeries at SIMS Hospital, Nungbakkam. The planned surgical procedures will be done on 17th & 18th july and the post-operative follow-up will be taken care by SIMS Hospital. The camp also showcased Non-surgical ways of concealing & masking the scars which include camouflage, laser (CO2 and RFMC), Medical Tattooing & Hair Transplant
