The new outlet was inaugurated by the renowned Tamil actor Vikram Prabhu and is ready to serve this part of the city with a myriad of South Indian delicacies. With a seating capacity of about 60 diners, the outlet has interiors of regal ambience with excellent hospitality. It serves all four South Indian cuisines- Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra with authentic native flavors and secret recipes of the royal durbars of the states.
The restaurant and its team ensure that the best possible ingredients are used while preparing the food which includes a strict no to artificial colors and taste enhancers in their kitchen. It also maintains healthy standards in the kitchen by using cold pressed gingelly oil and organic ghee. The meat for mutton briyani and curries is brought from Erode where only tender meat is chosen and is carefully checked by experts. Also wood fire is used to slow cook meat instead of adding chemical meat tenderizers.
The new outlet offers an exquisite food experience with its spicy and mouth watering signature dishes- Madurai Mutton Briyani, Ambur Chicken Briyani, Ayiremeeen Kuzhambu and Thanjavur Kair Katti Gola. Those who love the endorphin-releasing pleasure of seriously “hot” chilli-infused dishes will find new levels of challenge in The Maplai Theepori Lollipop Challenge and the Super Spicy Andhra Chicken.

The prime dish of the vegetarian feast consists of veg thalassery briyani with yummy layers of flavors while the Chicken briyani gives a delicious choice between Ambur and the Thalassery variety which bowls you over with its ethnic taste.
Maplai is the actualization of a passion shared by three individuals; Chef Koushik (also known as the Mad Chef), Sakthi Vinod Rajan G of Madurai (also known as Maplai) and Shyam Viswanathan. Together they started this venture to revive the status of the traditional South Indian recipes in the contemporary Indian cuisine. The chefs not only preserve the culinary culture of each state in the dishes, but at the same time, add delightful twists and innovations to the traditional gourmet.
“What I don’t feed our children, I won’t feed our guests. Following the success at Nungambakkam and demand for our South Indian food at this part of the city, we decided to open an outlet here on ECR”, says Chef Koushik in the inaugural function of the ECR outlet.
