Chennai, October, 2017: Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA) conducted its 36thAnnual Convocation, The Chief Guest Mr. Suresh Narayanan, Chairman and Managing Director, NestléIndia Limited presided over the function and conferred the degrees.
LIBA announced that they are planning a Joint MS programme with Fordham University, New York, USA to offer an MS program in the areas of Business Analytics and Global Finance. In addition to this, the setting up of a Centre for Analytics and Insights in collaboration with TCS was announced during the convocation.
On this day, over 235 LIBA students consisting of two year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), three year part-time PGDM, Ph.D and Executive Postgraduate programme from Maveric Systems received their certificate in various disciplines of Business Management. Medals were awarded to academic toppers for their remarkable achievements across different programmes.
During the convocation, prizes for the best summer projects were awarded to Ms. K.Yamini Verma for the project “A Study on the Real Competition between NBFCs and Banks” and to Mr. Newton Manoj Devaraj for the project “Achieving Inventory Accuracy and On Time Delivery in E-Commerce FC Operations”.
Addressing the graduates, Mr. Suresh Narayanan, Chairman and Managing Director, Nestlé India Limited said, “I want to congratulate all the graduating students of LIBA that has a legacy and generation of leaders. My dear young friends, champions are made by practice, only practice makes you capable. Every job whatever you do or your goal needs practice. Success in a person’s career depends more on their soft skills like communication, good work relationship, problem solving and the attitude to see an opportunity for growth in all challenges they face”. He advised the students as future managers to focus on upgrading competency, continuous learning, show credibility, commitment, courage and compassion.“Your journey will not end until you feel fully confident of meeting uncertainties and challenges of life and dealing with successes and failures with a positive attitude. So, all I want to say is you are not going to get very far in life based on what you already know but your success is based on how many people’s lives you have touched”.
Commenting on the convocation, Fr. P. Christie SJ, Director, LIBA said, “It gives me immense pleasure to witness yet another batch of students successfully receiving their certificates. I am very proud that this year we witnessed 100 percent placements. I am confident that this holistic learning will help the students excel in their professional career. I take this moment to congratulate all the students and wish them the best for their future endeavor.”
Commenting on the announcements, Fr. P. Christie added, “This year we have initiated a number of programmes in various fields in association with corporate companies and foreign universities. Business Analytics has been one of our focus areas and we continue to take efforts in preparing industry ready talents to the corporate world. ”
