Chennai, October 2017: As the first step to take Millet Revolution to the rest of the country, Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka organised a Road Show at Chennai, today. Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture, Government of Karnataka Mr Krishna Byre Gowda inaugurated the road show which is the first among the many road shows which will be organised as precursors to the International Trade Fair – Organics & Millets 2018 scheduled to be held at Palace Grounds, Bangalore from January 19 to 21.
Inaugurating the road show, Minister Krishna Byra Gowda said “This fair is a platform to bring farmers, marketers and consumers under one roof. We are proud to say that Karnataka is the first state to take the ‘ Organic and Millet’ message to the world outside. Besides, our venture is the first of its kind initiative in the country to create awareness about the Organics and Millets from the government’s side. For this mission to be succesful, we need the support of our neighbouring states too. ”
The Minister pointed out that the message to be conveyed is simple – we have to reacquaint ourselves with Millets. Incorporating this crop in our diet is the one of the main panacea for most of the health crisis we face today. For the past 4 years, this has been the main mission of the Agriculture Department of Karnataka,” he added.
The Minister interacted with the industry leaders like Aachi masala, Brown Tree, Janashi Enterprise, Agam Organics, Sarvana agencies, Dhyanyam organics, Gormei market etc. He also visited Prems Gramma Bhojanam, an exclusive organic and Millets restaurant in Chennai.
Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka has also organsied Food Industry Leader Consortium for Organics & Millets ( FILCOM at Bangalore which was a huge success. Many food industry leaders like Britannia, ITC, iD Fresh Foods, Pro Nature Organic foods, Mother India Farms, Phalada Agro, Sresta Natural Bioproducts Pvt. Ltd etc.
