ICAI holds Annual Convocation ceremony all across the country

Chennai January 29, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) organized its annual convocation was on  January 24, 2018 to award certificates of membership to over 450 new members and facilitate rank holders of the recent CA examinations at Chennai. CA. R. SESHASAYEEChairman, IndusInd Bank was the Chief Guest of the ceremony organized at Chennai Kamarajar Arangam, Annasalai, Teynampet, Chennai-18.

Guest of Honour SHRI. SRIDHAR VEMBU CEO & Founder – ZOHO Corporation said stated that lot of businesses are coming across from border and in that scenario it is important to know, understand and apply the concepts which add value, productivity and brand to the business and nation as a whole. The CA’s have a greater role to play in value creation and cost of running the business should be proportionate to the GDP of the country and add ultimately to nation productivity.

Chief Guest Mr CA. R. SESHASAYEEChairman, IndusInd Bank said In his address emphasized that in our country creativity and innovation are lacking and those are solutions to many problems. He stated that valuation of business is important and ponder why two similar businesses have different valuations. As a CA who are perfect with number game are important to open the doors of business opportunity and in this context curiosity thinking is critical. CA should broaden their knowledge and entrepreneurial opportunities should be explored and exploited. CA should have integrity and commitment. The image of the profession has been slightly dented due to acts of some and it is the time that we should act as custodians of property and proprietary”.

The Institute functions under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. Started in 1949 with 1700 members, ICAI is a prominent accounting body in the country and the second largest accounting body in the world with over 2.80 lakh members. ICAI has 5 Regional Councils and 163 branches all across the country with over 8 lakh students. In addition, it has also set up 30 chapters outside India and an overseas office in Dubai.

Speaking at the event CA. M.P. Vijay Kumar Central Council Members, ICAI said,“I would like to offer my congratulations to all the new members and awardees today. I welcome you to the fraternity of chartered accountants and wish you success in all your endeavors as you move ahead in your career as accountancy professionals”

The ICAI conducts Convocation twice every year for award of Certificate of Membership to newly enrolled Members as bonhomie to the CA fraternity. The Convocation is intended to bring young members of the profession under the umbrella of the fraternity of Chartered Accountants and foster a sense of belongingness to the profession and the Institute.

The Institute has been striving for constantly equipping its members to deliver professional services of the best standards with greater credibility, reliability and accountability. The Institute would continue to provide guidance for the growth of profession in line with changing requirements of stakeholders and enable full utilization of capacities of the Indian professionals at National as well as International level.
