Benjarong, the favorite destination for Thai food lovers in Chennai is all set to host Southern Thai Food festival at its outlet in TTK road from 16th September to 1st October. This is the first time Benjarong is organizing a festival for a collective region of Thailand with a special focus on sea food from the southern coast, which is known for its sharp and intense taste. Ingredients such as Kaffir lime leaves, Thai galangal (ginger), Thai red chillies are the special condiment used in preparation of food at this festival which gives a perfect balance of aroma and spice to the dishes served.
A host of carefully curated dishes including a selection of lip-smacking appetizers, soups, main courses and desserts which have origin at the southern part of Thailand are served during this festival. The menu consist of appetizers like Satay Malay which is Grilled prawns skewers in Malay style with peanut sauce, Tod prik khing which is Crispy beef or Bamboo shoots wok tossed with string beans and basil in red curry paste, Exclusive satay platter with southern style marinade – Chicken, and many more. Soups section consist of luscious Yum pla dook foo which is Steamed, minced and deep fried cat fish topped with raw mango salad and cashew nuts, Gaeng som cha om talay, Tom kati and so on, while main course serving consist of dishes such as Choochee scallops in which Pan seared scallops are cooked in rich red curry sauce and makrut leaves, Khua kling made of Dry meat or tofu curry with lots of kaffir lime leaves, birds eye chillies and tender peppercorn, Pahd prik khi noo, Hormok poo and many more. For scrumptious desserts one can choose from Sakoo piak maprow which is sweetened sago served with tender coconut flakes and cubed cantaloupes, Khanom kluay which is steamed banana cupcake served with vanilla ice cream.
