Chennai, May , 2017: India’s largest and No 1 radio network, 92.7 Big FM, hosted its first ever on-air comedy talent show, ‘BIG COMEDIAN HUNT’ for its listeners in Chennai. Through this one-of-a kind talent hunt, the radio station invited participation from aspiring comedians, to provide them with a platform to showcase the natural humour that lies within them. The comedy talent hunt, which was launched on 22nd March 2017, concluded with a high-octane finale along with some humorous acts, judged by RJ Sarithiran of Sarithiranin Narithanam show, at BIG FM’s Nungambakkam studio.
From among the top 5 contenders who paved their way to the finale, 21-year old Nandha Gopalakrishnan.K was announced as the winner of the coveted title, for his perfect comic timing, spontaneity and humorous take on different situations. He was gratified with a gold coin for his deserving win.
Reaching out to every corner of the city for maximum reach, 92.7 BIG FM marked its presence across Chennai and conducted auditions in top five colleges of the city as well as corporate pockets, to hunt for the best comedian. The RJs also interacted with the audiences by going live on Facebook apart from conducting on-ground auditions. With an aim to appeal to the audience and inviting more participation from the listeners, the RJs uploaded videos on the FM’s social media pages, enacting the jokes sent by listeners and tagging them on the same. The radio station also encouraged listeners to send their entries through WhatsApp and Facebook messenger.

Acclaimed celebrity comedians also joined the RJs to invite participation from listeners and shared insights on writing script and jokes. Shortlisted contestants were wished by celebrities such as Actor Ganesh Venkatraman, Actor Bharath, Director Rajakumaran, Actress Nikki Galrani, Oru Kidayin Karunai manu movie team among others. The winner of the show Nandha Gopalakrishnan.K, analumni of Loyola College has been a part of 28 short films as a lead and is also a well-known stage artist. Apart from possessing the skill set of entertaining the audiences with his rib tickling humour, he is also known for his captivating skills as an Emcee and VJ in Chennai.
